Recipe of the month: Peach Cobbler

It’s hard to believe that Easter is already here. Another joyous occasion that bring family and friends together… Are you getting ready for your Easter feast?? What’s in your menu for tomorrow?

Just in case if you don’t have enough time to make everything, here is a simple dessert for you to try. This is my first time ever making a Peach Cobbler and it turned out to be perfect and moreover I was surprised to see how easy it was to make!! Thanks Mayachechi for introducing me to this soulful dessert!!

Recipe Adapted from Paula Deen

Servings:  8 to 10

Ingredients:
  • Canned sliced peaches – I can
  • Sugar – 1cup
  • Reserve 1/4th cup syrup from canned peach
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Ground cinnamon, optional

Method

Preheat oven to 175 degrees C.

Combine the sliced peaches, reserved syrup, a pinch of cinnamon and 1tblsp sugar in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes till the syrup is thick. Remove from the heat.

Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.

Meanwhile, combine the rest of the sugar and flour together in a bowl. Slowly stir in milk to prevent clumping.  Pour the batter over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon peaches on top of batter evenly, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle on top some ground cinnamon. And bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Batter will rise to top during baking and bake it till it turns golden.

Serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Tip: You can make this with different fruits like blue berry.

Coffee Table Décor

I feel rejuvenated after my weekend get away and humbled with gratitude for this short break. How is your week so far? I hope it’s going well.

Today’s post is about Coffee Table Décor.  I go crazy when I see a coffee table that’s put together so beautifully that reflects your interior décor. All you need to do is accessorize your coffee table with books, flowers, candles, sculptures or anything eye catchy. Mix and match and avoid using elements that have the same height.

Here are some pictures from Lonny for some inspiration to style your coffee table.

I’d love to know what you display on your coffee table!!

Alchemy of Spice

Yesterday I finally got a chance to play with my camera… with the permission of my toddler of course. Though she was intensely observing me play around with spice, she decided to stay away as it’s not her kind of game. And I was fortunate to continue with my photo shoot.

Spices play an essential part in our cooking. I have always tried to get to know my spices and combine the different flavors in my dish to create something distinctive. It’s all about mix and match. And besides the exotic flavor they are great to take pictures!

Smell your spice, take in the aroma and play around with it to enhance your dish!!

Mrunal’s Boutique

Recently I had the pleasure to meet Mrunal Khimji, a fashion designer and consultant based here in Oman, who is constantly stimulated by creativity and boundless talent. Mrunal was trained as a jewelry designer at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York and pursued her career at Rosy Blue, an international jewellery firm as a product developer and designer. But her love and passion, besides theatre, has always been to design clothes. And that’s how Mrunal’s Boutique was formed which is located in Qurum, Muscat. Mrunal creates unique one-off pieces, works on private orders and provides consultation on designs to her clients that suit their style and body. Her diverse collection ranges from corporate wear to cocktail dresses, traditional to modern, casual to party wear, beautiful Indian ethnic wear to Dhofari dresses. As I browsed through her collection, I realised she had an elegant mix of styles that were feminine and unique and her choice of fabrics brings in a sense of luxury and sophistication. She has a team of embroiders and tailors who caters to customized work and exquisite embroidery.  And to top it all up the interiors of the boutique is stylishly done up and it showed that personal style and interiors go hand in hand.

Besides clothes Mrunal’s boutique also showcases jewelry and footwear designed by her friends.
